OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Helping individuals build the skills they need for everyday life.

Occupational Therapists (OTs) support people to participate in the daily activities that matter most - whether that’s getting dressed, attending school, managing emotions, or maintaining independence at home.

At River, our experienced OTs work with people of all ages to develop practical skills, improve mobility, and support emotional and sensory regulation in a way that’s tailored to each individual’s goals and environment.

FAQ’s:

  • OTs help people build the skills they need to do everyday activities—like getting dressed, managing emotions, writing at school, or preparing meals.

  • We work with children, teens, and adults who need support with physical, emotional, sensory, or developmental challenges that impact their daily lives.

  • While physios focus on physical strength and mobility, OTs look at the bigger picture of how a person engages in daily tasks—like self-care, school, work, or play—and help improve the skills needed to do those things.

  • No referral is needed. You can contact us directly or complete a referral form on our website.

  • Yes! We work with both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants to provide therapy and functional capacity assessments.

  • Sessions are tailored to individual goals and can include play-based activities, skill-building tasks, emotional regulation support, or functional assessments. We keep it practical, fun, and client-centred.

  • Our OTs offer mobile support—at home, school, or in the community—and also provide telehealth sessions depending on what suits you best.

  • A functional assessment looks at how someone performs daily activities. It helps identify strengths, challenges, and the best support plan to build independence and quality of life.
